Fiberglass Tent
Poles
Looking to purchase a tent for a future or upcoming outdoor excursion is a big step towards
being fully prepared. However, finding the proper tent in terms of size, features, and stability is crucial to your
success in the woods.
Therefore, consider what you already have if a tent is available in the attic or basement or a
friend has offered up an older model they possess. Sometimes, all that is needed are a few small repairs like a new
zipper or something more serious like new tent
poles.
That being said, high quality fiberglass tent poles can run for 10 dollars apiece, which is
exponentially cheaper than a brand new tent!
The best thing about these fiberglass tent poles is their ease of use. In comparison to older
designs, these poles are much easier to install and add an additional layer of stability in wind or when the tent
is being set up and is not fully secured.
Since many of these poles are coated with zinc or other strong elements, they are able to
withstand additional pressure and abuse and last for many, many years. However, the most important thing to
consider when ordering replacement parts for a tent is the length and diameter of all poles varies!
Depending on the size of the tent, you may need 5/16” diameter or 3/8” diameter poles.
Generally, the former is for smaller dome tents and the second size is designed for large dome tents.
Saving money is a great thing to do when planning a camping trip! This way, you can travel to further and more remote destinations and finding
ways to simply repair instead of replacing your gear is a great way to do this.
Replacing old plastic tent poles with new and stronger fiberglass tent poles is one of the most
common and cost effective ways to do this; and should be done if the dimensions work and opportunity presents
itself!
